Since its beginning in 1995, the Single Room Housing Assistance Corp. (SRHAC) has exclusively provided affordable SRO housing while offering life-changing services including housing placement, job and housing counseling, self-sufficiency skills, and utilizing special governmental rent-subsidy programs.
OUR MISSION
Strengthen, preserve, and protect Chicago’s SROs as vital, affordable housing
Help homeless and low-income individuals find affordable housing and supportive services
Assist and advocate for SRO residents and operators
Combat homelessness
Continue acquiring existing and potential SRO properties to expand its ability to directly provide affordable housing for poor single adults by offering market-rate rental units combined with rent-subsidies, when available.
